ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - All Walmart locations within a 50 mile radius of St. Louis have been closed, local police is reporting.

KMOX has called Walmart stores in Collinsville and Granite City. A KMOX caller also reported that the Kirkwood and Fenton stores were closed Sunday night.

WalMart Corporate Communications told KMOX, "As we continue monitoring the situations unfolding in cities across the country, we will keep our focus on prioritizing the safety of our associates and customers. We’ll make the decisions to close or reopen stores in the area based on the needs of the community."

Multiple reports say the stores closed at 5 p.m. and won't reopen until 7 a.m. on Monday. It follows other major retail stores that closed on Satuday night in cities that have seen civil unrest after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, who died after a police officer knelt on his neck for about eight minutes.

We are getting reports that ALL Walmart’s within a 50 mile radius of St. Louis City have implemented an emergency close down effective 5pm. They will re-open tomorrow morning at 7am.

1/Let me paint a picture here: I live in a peaceful suburb of St. Louis. I went to a local grocery chain to get a few things for dinner. It’s a very ordinary Sunday at the store. They’re out of hamburger buns so I figure I’ll swing by Walmart (less than a mile away) pic.twitter.com/WGTykplZ7J
