SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (KMOX) — The teenager shot and killed in Spanish Lake Thursday night has been identified by St. Louis County Police.
13-year-old Clifford Swan III was killed while walking in the Oak Park Apartments, near Interstate 270 and Bellefontaine Road, at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Swan was walking with two others when someone opened fire on the group. He was struck by a bullet and was rushed to a local hospital, where he died.
An 18-year-old male is in custody, but police say the investigation is still "very active."
Small crowds gathered around the scene shortly after and "act disruptively" around the scene, according to St. Louis County Police. Additional St. Louis County Police Department resources responded to ensure the safety and integrity of the scene remained.
He was the second child shot and killed in St. Louis Thursday, after a 3-year-old boy accidentally shot himself with an unsecured firearm in the bedroom. His mother and father were home at the time.
