BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - The man accused of firing the shot that killed an Illinois State Police trooper on Friday in East St. Louis is behind bars.

St. Clair County State's Attorney James Gomric announced late Saturday night that Chris R. Grant is charged with first-degree murder.

Grant's bond is set at $5 million. No booking photo was made available.

We're still awaiting word from Illinois State Police about their investigation into the death of Trooper Nick Hopkins and what led them to seek charges against Chris Grant.
