COLLINSVILLE (KMOX) -- A suspect is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Illinois State Police trooper Nick Hopkins.

45-year-old Christopher Grant of East St. Louis is being held on a $5 million bond at the St. Clair County jail.
Grant is accused of shooting Hopkins while the trooper was serving a warrant at Caseyville Ave. and North 42nd St. in East. Louis early on Friday morning.
