BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - There are two presumed positive COVID-19 Coronavirus cases in St. Clair County.
Health department director Barb Hohlt announced Saturday afternoon the patients are both women, one in her 60s and the other in her 70s.
Hohlt said she can't disclose exactly where they live or who they've been around, "At this time we are not releasing any of that information as it is protected by HIPPA. They are St. Clair County residents, and they did travel internationally."
Hohlt says the two women are quarantined, and their close contacts are as well.
The Illinois Department of Health also announced new downstate cases in Woodford and Cumberland counties on Saturday, the first ones outside Chicago and its suburbs.
County board chair Mark Kern said he has signed a disaster proclamation for St. Clair County to open the doors for assistance from state and federal partners. County EMA director Herb Simmons said he is asking for more supplies.
Kern had this message for St. Clair County residents, "Anyone who is sick should stay home. Everyone should wash their hands and practice social distancing. You could be a carrier. Do the right thing for your friends, your family, and your community."
