UPDATE: Name released in officer-involved shooting

St. Louis County Police have released the name of the man shot and killed by a Richmond Heights Police Officer Saturday afternoon.

Officials have identified him as 23 year old Terry J. Tillman of the 4800 block of South Broadway in St. Louis.

No additional information has been released.

St. Louis County Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting near the Galleria shopping mall.

Sergeant Ben Granda says it happened around three Saturday afternoon in the 8100 block of Clayton Road

Granda says a security guard alerted a uniformed Richmond Heights police officer that a mall patron possibly had a gun on him.

Granda says that's when a foot pursuit began, and the officer fired his weapon, "He struck the subject, who was pronounced deceased on scene. That subject is 23 years of age. A weapon was recovered in the course of this investigation."

Granda says investigators want to speak with anyone who was at the Galleria and can help them figure out exactly what happened leading up to the shooting.

CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) - Richmond Heights police say one of their uniformed officers was involved in a "critical incident" within the city of Clayton, Saturday afternoon.

It happened in the 8100 block of Clayton Road.

Saint Louis County Police Department's bureau of crimes against persons unit was requested to take over the investigation.

Richmond Heights police say traffic in the immediate area will be impacted as the investigation continues.
