CLAYTON (KMOX) -- Two Velda City police officers have been charged in the February shooting of a fleeing suspect.Prosecutors say Officers Christopher Gage and Matthew Schanz have both been charged with one count each of armed criminal action and first degree assault -- they're accused of shooting at a suspect who allegedly drove at them as he fled a traffic stop.Schanz was on hand at the St. Louis County courthouse posting bail as St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell gave his news conference to announce the charges.
