Wash U offers tuition waiver for students across Missouri, Southern Illinois

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Washington University is telling students in Missouri and much of Illinois — if you've got what it takes to succeed here, don't worry about the money.

The Wash U Pledge offers Pell Grant-eligible students or those from families making less than $75,000 a year free room, board, and tuition plus fees are waived.

Ronne Patrick Turner, the school's Vice Provost for Admissions and Financial Aid, said, "This program tells (prospective students) right off the bat that if you're talented, if you want to come to Wash U — if Wash U is a good fit for you, you don't have to worry about the money."

The entire state of Missouri is eligible as is the southern half of Illinois — essentially from Springfield, south.

There's no special method to apply for the help, just apply for admission through the normal process. Current students who meet the requirements are also eligible.
