ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The 50th Jack Buck Awards at the Missouri Athletic Club is lining up to be one of the best nights in the history of the dinner, which started in 1970 when KMOX sports director Jack Buck decided the city needed a way to celebrate the year in St. Louis sports. The "Sports Personality of the Year" dinner was renamed in Mr. Buck's honor after his passing in 2002.
And make no mistake about it, there is some celebrating to be had in 2019. St. Louis had one of its best sports years in recent memory.
