(KMOX) - Following Nike pulling a 4th of July-themed shoe because of complaints by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, a t-shirt company from Georgia has released a new shirt bearing the same Betsy Ross flag.
Nine Line Apparel, a company "founded by patriots for patriots" says they're proud to display the flag despites Kaepernick's claims of it having too much of a connection to slavery.
"This early design of the flag of the United States depicts the original 13 colonies and represents the unity of these original American colonies in their fight against the British for our nation's freedom during the Revolutionary War," Nine Line Apparel wrote in a statement on their website. "It in no way, shape or form alludes to slavery yet is a direct representation of freedom fought and earned by early Americans."
The shirts are on sale for only the next 12 days and will be shipped starting on July 19. They have short and long-sleeve t-shirts, hoodies and tanks that sell for between $25 and $60.
