Here's the movie-by-movie breakdown of how much Robert Downey Jr. made as 'Iron Man'

(KMOX) -  Robert Downey Jr. nearly became as rich as the character he played, Tony Stark, over more than a decade of Iron Man. Entertaiment website, CBR, broke down how he earned between $396 - $435 million combined for the nine Marvel films he appeared in. 

He have known that the Marvel Cinematic Universe was going to be a smash-success when he agreed to play Stark for $500,000 and a percentage of the earnings for 2008's Iron Man. Over the next decade, his portrayal of the billionaire playboy turned superhero would earn him big money at the box office.  His total payout from the first film was around $2 million.

Downey Jr. would get a bigger paycheck for Iron Man 2 and 3, around $10 million each.  His ten minutes of screen time for Spider-Man Homecoming would earn him $15 million.  After Avengers: Endgame would earn Downey Jr. a $75 million paycheck, CBR.com says Downey Jr. would have between $395-$435 million in his bank account from his work with Marvel.
