WATERLOO, Ill. (KMOX) updated 5:30 p.m. - Three people, including a four-year-old, were inside the plane that crashed near Waterloo, Ill., Tuesday afternoon. The plane in route from Mobile, Ala. to Cahokia, Ill., but didn't complete it's flight.
Maj. Jim Lansing of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a warning light went off and then oil slashed onto the windshield as the plane was in flight. Lansing says the pilot was attempting to land the plane on a road when it eventually crashed near around 2:45 p.m. near Gilmore Lake and Floraville Roads, east of Route 3.
The crash happened An eyewitness to the crash told KMOX she saw the plane diving down, but lost it behind some trees. Then when she drove to the crash site she described it as a "pile of metal."

March 12, 2019 The plane had three passengers on board, two adults and a four-year-old child, with non-life threatening injuries. Multiple extrications were required by first responders, according to the Republic Times.
Flight records show the plane took off from Mobile, Ala. at 11:18 a.m., Tuesday. The plane type is a single-piston, Piper Saratoga/Lance.
