EUREKA, Mo. (KMOX) - The bear who ran into a school building in Eureka and was stuck there for five hours has sparked a great dessert deal at an area ice cream shop.
Spooner's Frozen Custard wants to celebrate the "Eureka Bear" by giving 20% off any order on Wednesday, May 29th that includes a Bear (hot fudge and cookie dough in your choice of vanilla or chocolate).
They are located at 113 E 5th St. in Eureka and are open until 9 p.m.
Eureka Police and Missouri Conversation employees were quickly on the scene at Most Sacred Heart Parish, Tuesday afternoon after the young male bear ran inside a door that was left open.
Eventually he had to tranquilized and the Missouri Department of Conservation was able to take him back to the wild. There was some video shared of the bear knocking at the front door, trying to get back out.
The bear was first spotted about a mile away from the school around noon, Tuesday and police had been following it before it entered the school.
The school's secretary saw it run into the school through security cameras sometime before 1 p.m., then alerted Father Joe Kempf and the handful of other people who were in the school. Classes were not in session so no students were in the building.
There are multiple posts on the Eureka communtity Facebook page about a bear that was in the area, Monday.
