HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KMOX) — A St. Louis native has made it into this evening's semi finals of NBC's "The Titan Games."

30-year-old Derik Scott is an attorney and professional MMA fighter. He says he's been competitive since he was a child, when he started doing backflps at the age of 4, and won his first national championship in gymnastics at the age of 7.

You ever been THIS close to the edge? That’s my foot with @Coleabiahiii pushing on the other side of that wall. Can’t say I’d want to battle against a better dude ----#MakeSureYouWatch#TitanGames#NotASpoiler pic.twitter.com/QKVNCIyYMa

What's it been like working with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?

"He lives his blood, sweat and respect mantra," Scott told KMOX's Carol Daniel. "The guy's all about tequila, hard work and cheat meals...but he talks a little smack too and that's pretty fun!"

Yes, he said tequila, and that may be why "The Titan Games" even exists. Scott says the idea for the show and the set designs came to The Rock after a few adult beverages

"He'd go home, have a few tequilas, then think of creating these obstacles."

Scott and 15 other contestants will be whittled down to one man and one woman, who will each receive $100,000 for winning the competition.

"The Titan Games" airs at 7 p.m. on KSDK Channel 5.
