ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The man who spends more time than anyone with the NHL Stanley Cup doesn't believe in any curse or hex associated with one of the most recognizable trophies in sports.

Howie Borrow is one of the handful of official "Keepers of the Cup," who is currently on a media tour of NHL cities. He was in Dallas last week, he's been to Colorado and says "Stan" will be in every city who's NHL team made the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"Keeper of the Cup" joins the Charlie Brennan Show on KMOX:

So if there is some kind of curse associated with the Cup, it looks like it will be spread equally amongst all the playoff teams. But Borrow isn't buying any of that curse chatter and actually believes just the opposite.

"I don't believe in that," Borrow says. "Maybe you should touch it and give that positive energy to the team that you're trying to cheer for."

The Cup spent most of the night in Ballpark Village on Thursday night, for the Game 4 watch party of the St. Louis Blues vs Dallas Stars. Borrow says there was some touching of the Cup from Blues fans, but there was also plenty of curse believers who kept their hands off.

"Other fans embrace it, they can't wait to touchit, give it a hug or a kiss or something," Borrow says. "It all depends on the fan."

So maybe Borrow is right and the fate of NHL playoff teams is solely in the hands, skates and sticks of the players on the ice.
