Two aldermen seek recall vote of St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Two St. Louis aldermen are fighting back against the "Better Together" city-county merger plan -- they want to recall the mayor of St. Louis.

Two north St. Louis aldermen, John Collins-Muhammad and Brandon Bosley, say Mayor Lyda Krewson has "betrayed local voters."

They say it's a racist plan that would dilute African-American political power if the city and county were to merge. They also believe local voters would have less say — if any at all — over how taxes are spent.

When asked how they are going to recall Krewson, and how many signatures they have gathered, Bosley said, "You never show a lamb the blade you're coming with." 

Better Together spokesman Ed Rhode released the following statement:

“It’s no surprise the opposition to the Better Together proposal continues to come from politicians trying to keep their taxpayer funded jobs while offering no solutions of their own.
Mayor Krewson should be commended for selflessly supporting a proposal which improves public safety and enhances economic opportunities for all St. Louisans.”
