CEDAR HILL, Mo. (KMOX) - The Jefferson County sheriff says Saturday's murder-suicide near Cedar Hill appears to be the result of a property line dispute between neighbors.
Dave Marshak posted that information on Twitter.
The gunman suspected of killing a woman was found dead just before noon in a wooded area near the site of the shooting.
Investigators say the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman's body was found near a burning home.
Sheriff Marshak had a Code Red alert in place for a time, asking nearby residents to shelter-in-place. JCSD spokesman Grant Bissell explains why, "Possible shots fired. You see a house on fire. You see what appears to be a dead body. You've got to take all the necessary precautions."
No names were released as of Saturday evening.
