ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The City Water Division on Monday lifted the Precautionary boil order advisory issued for parts of South City on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
The Water Division conducted several tests of water samples in affected areas and has verified the water is not contaminated and is safe to consume.
KMOX's previous reporting:
Residents in some parts of south St. Louis city are being asked to boil their water as a precaution until at least Monday morning. Director of Public Utilities Curt Skouby says a 20-inch water main broke in the Lindenwood Park area overnight, which led to a concerning drop in water pressure for some residents from the western city limits to Ivanhoe, Hampton or Kingshighway:- West of Kingshighway between Gresham and Chippewa, extending to the western City limit.- West of Hampton between Chippewa and Arsenal, Extending west to the City limit- West of Ivanhoe between Arsenal and Manchester, extending west to the City limit.Skouby says testing is underway."We took some chlorine residual and basic chemical tests, they all came back fine," Skouby told KMOX. "We're waiting on a bacteria test which takes 18 hours to run."The order will probably be lifted Monday morning -- until then, any water meant for consumption should be boiled for about two minutes.
