WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (KMOX) — If you noticed a big plume of smoke in the area of I-255 and I-64 this morning, you weren't alone.

There was a fire at a liquor store in Washington Park. The blaze sent flames and smoke shooting into the sky shortly after 5 a.m.

The fire gutted the business at 4700 Caseyville Ave. Neighbors tell KMOX that they heard an explosion and when they came out of their homes, they saw flames "just roaring" out of the building.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire. They say no one was hurt, and there's no indication of what the cause was. The Illinois State Fire Marshal will investigate.
