JUPITER, Fla. (KMOX) - Just days before he led his team aboard a flight to Milwaukee, Yadier Molina sat in the corner of the Cardinals clubhouse at spring training, rubbing a glove conditioner into his catcher's mitt while we talked, perhaps the mitt he would use to make his 15th straight start at the position on Opening Day.

No Cardinal has ever had more consecutive starts at a single position in team history.

Soak it in, St. Louis: Yadi behind the plate. It won't last forever.

Yadier Molina’s 15th straight Opening Day start is the most ever by a @Cardinals catcher... and the most consecutive starts at a single position in team history. #stlcards

How many more years will we see him in uniform?

Foundation 4, a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Yadier and his wife, Wanda Torres, will host its second annual charity dinner event, "Flavors of Puerto Rico," in St. Louis on May 23 at River City Casino & Hotel. The proceeds from event will benefit Latino children in need based on the following criteria: abuse, behavioral health, cancer services, education and poverty in Puerto Rico and St. Louis.

Molina will be joined at the event by some of his Cardinals teammates, who will be in St. Louis for a 3-game series against the Atlanta Braves starting on May 24.

We discuss that and more in this interview at Molina's locker:
