GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) — A massive burst of rainfall flooded streets and basements in Granite City last month.
Second Baptist Church pastor Chris Sedabres says the teams stayed at the church for more than a month ... also showering and eating many meals there.
He says they didn't charge homeowners a dime for their work. They just made one request.
"When the job is finished, they meet with the homeowner in front of the yard, they form a big circle, they hold hands, and they say a prayer," Sedabres told KMOX's Brad Choat. "When the prayer's over, they present a bible to that homeowner."
Sedabres says volunteers came from ten states... during a five-week period... to tackle the job.
