Missouri State announces hiring of former Louisville, Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino

SPRINGFIELD, Mo (KMOX) - The next head football coach at Missouri State will be former Louisville and Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino.
The 58-year-old has a combined college coaching record of 119–56 and 5-6 in postseason Bowl Games. However, he also carries a controversial past which includes being fired by Arkansas in 2012 for having an affair with his 25-year-old assistant.
Most recently, Petrino was with Louisville for his second stint as head coach from 2014 to 2018, where he was fired after a 2–8 start in his final season.
Petrino also coached one season with Atlanta Falcons, going 3-10 and leaving in the middle of the season amid then Falcons quarterback Michael Vick's illegal dogfighting operation.
He will replace Dave Steckel, who the Bears agreed with on a separation agreement last week.
Steckel was 13-42 in five seasons as head coach of the Bears to a 13-42 record in five seasons. Missouri hasn't made the postseason since 1990.
