Skyview Drive-In celebrates 70 years in business

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) — In 1958 there were over 4,000 drive-ins in the country. Today there are about 348.
KMOX's Carol Daniel went to one of the few that's been owned by the same family for its entire existence.
That's Skyview Drive-In in Belleville celebrating it's 70th anniversary all year long. Steve Bloomer, third-generation owner of Skyview says they'll play road runner cartoons before movies on screen one and Bugs Bunny cartoons on screen two to celebrate the anniversary.
There'll also be live music and a special admission for the actual anniversary on July 8, and Bloomer has some advice if you're thinking about going at sunset: "The movies start at 9 p.m. and the box office opens at 7, but people line up at 6."
The first screen can hold 440 cars and the second screen can hold 190 vehicles. Skyview drive-in is a first-run theater, so current movies being played include "Godzilla" this weekend.
