Terrifying pics: Creepy dolls mysteriously invade Festus

FESTUS, Mo. (KMOX) - They're being found at busy intersections, near homes and outside of a bowling ally in a Missouri town just south of St. Louis. Odd child-size dolls without faces and sometimes without heads are being placed around Festus, Mo. 

The photos are being popularized and shared on the Jeffco 411 Facebook page and you can view them in the slideshow at the top of this page. 

The first time was two dolls leaning against each other, found on Aug. 8. Then four days later there was another doll outside a bowling ally. And in the days since, more have been found near intersections, hanging from a light pole, or propped up against a pole. They have no doubt been seen by hundreds of residents driving through town. 

According to local reports, police have been called by some people believing they are real children in danger. 

Some comments on Facebook say they look like something out of a horror film like, "Chucky and his bride," or say Festus is about to be a new episode of "The Twilight Zone."

Someone else said it reminded them of dolls they found in their grandma's house. 

KMOX has reached out to Festus Police and is awaiting comment.
