Sunday's Patriots-Chiefs game in Kansas City has officially been postponed, the NFL announced Saturday.

The status of the game was thrown into doubt Saturday morning when news broke that Patriots quarterback Cam Newton had tested positive for COVID-19 and would miss the game.

Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta'amu also reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Players and staff from both teams continue to undergo testing, but there has not yet been any news of other positive tests. The Patriots were reportedly sent home from Gillette Stadium Saturday.

The league's statement says the new plan is to play the game either Monday or Tuesday, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that he is hearing Tuesday night is the most likely.

Of course, the situation remains very fluid. Just this week, the league had planned to move Titans-Steelers back just a couple days, only to have a wave of more positive tests in Tennessee force them to give both teams a bye week and move the game to later in the season.
