ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Rams may no longer play their football games in St. Louis anymore, but one particular year still has feelings of nostalgia for many football fans in St. Louis.

This weekend, the St. Louis Cardinals will honor the 1999-2001 St. Louis Rams, also known to the wider sports audience as "The Greatest Show On Turf" with a 25th anniversary celebration this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The team, led by a historical offense that featured quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk, receivers Issac Bruce and Torry Holt, and offensive tackle Orlando Pace, made two Super Bowls between 1999-2001, of course beating the Tennessee Titans to win Super Bowl XXXIV.

"I still think about it, those players that were involved and how much fun it was to be around them and experience all that with them," said former Rams coach Mike Martz, who was the Rams offensive coordinator during the 1999-2000 season on Total Information A.M. "It's great memories."

Looking back at the season, Martz said he felt that the Rams offense that year was going to be special after the first day of mini-camp, even when they thought quarterback Trent Green was going to be the starter before his injury.

"We went (into minicamp) and we just had to retool everything. We did and by the end of minicamp, what Trent (Green) was able to do with these guys and Marshall (Faulk), there was a feeling and excitement that was electric," said Martz. "We knew we were going to be really good coming out of mini-camp."

"When we got to (training) camp, we absolutely caught fire. When we got to the preseason game, we couldn't wait for the regular season to start. We were rolling. Everyone that saw us in the preseason were taken back by what they saw I think."

This weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 21, over 20 former players on the 1999-2000 team will be honored in a special pregame ceremony.

Among the former players to attend will include Faulk, Holt and Bruce, who will be signing autographs before the game beginning at 3:45 p.m. Fans will need to buy VIP tickets to attend the autograph sessions.

Alongside the autograph session, Martz, linebacker Mike Jones, and receiver Ricky Proehl will join up to discuss the season in a pregame Q&A session at the Budweiser Terrace at 3:45 p.m.
