Missouri lawmaker reaches out to XFL's new owner about bringing BattleHawks back home

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - State Rep Nick Schroer joined Marc Cox on our partner station 97.1 FM Talk to chat about the possible return of the XFL to St Louis. The wildly-popular BattleHawks have not been formally announced, but Schroer penned a letter to the league, laying out his reasoning for the team's return to St. Louis when the XFL reopens in 2023.

He shared his letter on Twitter, which was written to one of the league's new owners, Dany Garicia:

"What better way to show he [Stan Kroenke] knows nothing than to prove that St Louis is a football town," said Schroer of his initial letter to the XFL in 2018. "We were number one in attendance, number one in merchandise sales, number one in the Nielsen ratings, home and away games. We were number one in every category!"

"We're just trying to convince [Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson], look, if you're gonna have a successful XFL, bringing the BattleHawks back to their hometown is the right decision to make," says Schroer.

Johnson dropped a huge XFL tease during his appearance on CNBC recently. The entertainment icon shared a clip on Instagram directed towards "all us PRO FOOTBALL FANS."

The Rock, Garcia and their business partners purchased the league in August 2020 for about $15 million.
