ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Rams may no longer play in St. Louis, but Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of one day that still remains special in the hearts of many St. Louis football fans.
Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of the 1999 St. Louis Rams Super Bowl victory over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV.
The 1999 Rams were led by a historical offense that featured quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk, receivers Issac Bruce and Torry Holt, and offensive tackle Orlando Pace. That offense produced record scoring and yardage statistics and led to the iconic name 'The Greatest Show on Turf'.
To look back at the Rams' first Super Bowl victory and only one when they were still in St. Louis, KMOX had on Rams legends and Pro Football Hall of Famers Bruce and Warner throughout the day to look back at the game and the legendary season.
Bruce joined 'Sports Open Line host' Matt Pauley and looked back at winning Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams, saying the memories and experience of that season is something Bruce and his teammates cherish.
"It was a great run, the memories are still very fresh in our thinking and we had a chance to celebrate earlier this season with the St. Louis Cardinals, who were so gracious to bring me and my teammates into town," said Bruce.
'We have lasting memories. There's only a handful of guys who are walking this planet who can finish out each other sentences and thoughts when it comes to 'The Greatest Show on Turf'.
Warner joined Chris Rongey and Amy Marxkors on 'The Chris and Amy Show' and says he still has so many 'vivid memories' of his time with the Rams and in St. Louis.
"It's always great to look back, celebrate and remember those things, but it's definitely hard to believe that it was 25 years ago," said Warner.
