ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Associated Press released the latest AP Top 25 and it sees the Missouri Tigers enter the top 10 following a dominant 51-0 shutout at Faurot Field over Murray State.
The Tigers enter week two of the college football season ranked ninth, jumping ahead of defending National Champions Michigan and replacing Florida State in the top 10.
The jump into the top 10 was always going to happen after Florida State Seminoles lost their first two games of the season to Boston College and Georgia Tech, the question was if Mizzou could jump ahead of Michigan after the Wolverines weren't quite impressive against Fresno State ahead of their marquee matchup against the Texas Longhorns.
In the end, AP voters would squeeze Mizzou past Michigan with a tight 33 point gap between the two teams.
Among the biggest jumpers in the AP Poll were USC, who gained 10 spots and moving up to no. 13 following their victory in Las Vegas against LSU, and Iowa, who gained four spots following their 40-0 shutout over Illinois State.
Among the biggest droppers alongside Florida State -- who dropped out of the ballot entirely-- includes Oregon, who dropped four spots from No. 3 to No. 7, Clemson, who dropped 11 spots to No. 25 and LSU, who dropped five spots down to No. 18.
The Tigers also entered the top 10 in the latest coach's poll, but did not jump ahead of Michigan of that one, instead only entering the top 10 at tenth.
The Tigers next game is hosting Buffalo at Faurot Field, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on SEC Network Plus.
