ST. LOUIS – Gibson Jimerson scored 21 points and broke Erwin Claggett's Saint Louis career record for 3-point field goals, but first-place Richmond defeated the Billikens 80-64 Wednesday night in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Chaifetz Arena.
Jimerson, who was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, has 297 treys in his SLU career. Claggett held the previous mark of 295.
Jimerson also passed Scott Highmark for fifth place on the Bills' career points list. He has 1,708 points in a Saint Louis uniform.
Terrence Hargrove Jr. scored nine points, including his 1,000th point as a Billiken. He is the 37th Billiken to reach 1,000 points in a SLU career.
Bradley Ezewiro posted a double-double of 17 points and a career- and game-high 11 rebounds, and he added a career-high four assists and a career-high-tying three blocks. Larry Hughes II scored 11 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Cian Medley collected five assists.
Richmond used a 10-2 run to take a 22-12 lead with just under eight minutes to play in the first half. But Jimerson buried 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions to pull SLU to within a point, and Terrence Hargrove Jr.'s layup put the Billikens on top 23-22 at the 3:57 mark.
However, that was the last lead the Bills would enjoy. Richmond finished the first half on a 10-4 run and carried a 32-27 edge into intermission.
Richmond maintained a lead between three and eight points for the first eight minutes of the second half. A 17-3 run gave the Spiders their largest advantage of the evening, 67-47, with 6:30 remaining.
The Billikens play at Rhode Island Saturday, March 2. The game tips at 3 p.m. Central and will be carried on CBS Sports Network and KMOX 1120AM / 98.7FM.
