St. Louis bounced back from Saturday’s narrow playoff-clinching overtime win in a major way, scoring seven goals against the Nashville Predators—a single-period franchise record.

Tied at 1-1 after the first period following goals from Nashville’s Nick Cousins and St. Louis’ Brayden Schenn, the Blues never looked back after that.
Vladimir Tarasenko got the action started with a go-ahead goal at 1:11 of the second period. Calle Rosen, Jordan Kyrou, and Schenn would each come close to a hat trick after 40 minutes. Nathan Walker also earned his eighth of the season.
The seven goals came on eight chances.
Schenn had the overtime game-winner that clinched St. Louis' playoff spot against the Minnesota Wild, a 6-5 effort after the Blues gave up a 4-1 lead.
Kyrou’s second goal of the night came after the Predators’ Luke Kunin got one by Jordan Binnington to make it 8-2. Nashville’s Dante Fabbro followed up to make it 8-3.
Both squads were otherwise silent en route to the Blues’ victory. Binnington ended his night with 33 saves on 36 shots, winning his third straight game.
St. Louis has refused to go on autopilot, now having won nine games in a row. The onslaught was also the Blues’ 12th game scoring four or more goals, also a franchise record. They’ve scored 20 in the last three games alone.
The Boston Bruins are next on the schedule for the streaking Blues. That showdown is set for Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at Enterprise Center. The teams last squared off April 12 with St. Louis picking up a 4-2 win.
UPDATE: As of this writing, the Minnesota Wild have defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-4 in overtime to clinch a playoff berth. The Wild and Blues are expected to face each other in the first round.
Following Saturday afternoon’s win, the Blues swept the season series against Minnesota 3-0.
