ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Scott Perunovich's time with the St. Louis Blues has come to an end.

On Monday afternoon, The Blues announced Perunovich was traded to the New York Islanders in exchange for a conditional fifth round draft pick in 2026.

Perunovich, 26, was drafted by the Blues in the second round of 2018 NHL Draft, and received hype from Blues fan. Before turning pro in 2020, Perunovich played three seasons at Minnesota-Dulath, where he registered 105 points in 115 games as a defenseman.

In his final season at Minnesota Duluth, Perunovich ranked second in the National Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) in assists with 34 and becoming the first defenceman to lead the NCHA in scoring.

Perunovich was named the 2020 Hobey Baker Award winner, which is given to the top male NCAA ice hockey player.

However, Perunovich has had his fair shares of struggles during his time as a pro, only appearing in 97 games in three seasons with the Blues and struggled with injuries.

This season, Perunovich has appeared in 24 games for the Blues, registering two goals and six points total.

However, since the Blues acquired defenseman Cam Fowler on Dec. 14, 2024, Perunovich has saw his ice time significantly diminish, with Perunovich only appearing in six games since the Blues acquired Fowler.

Perunovich signed a one-year deal worth $1.15 million last offseason and is set to enter unrestricted free agency in the offseason.
