ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Blues fans are very close to seeing No. 91 back in the lineup. Forward Vladimir Tarasenko could return in the next couple of weeks, according to head coach Craig Berube.

The Blues begin a six-game, West Coast road trip on Saturday and Berube was asked if Tarasenko will be able to return to game action during the trip.

"Yeah, there's a good chance," Berube says. "I would say so, yeah."

On Friday, the 29-year-old forward was skating on what could be a top line with with Brayden Schenn and David Perron. Tarasenko hasn't played in a game since last year's playoffs. He had a second surgery on his shoulder in August 2020, after the first procdure in October 2019.

"I put him on a line today because he is getting close," Berube says. "I want him to go with a line and see how he looks and get some reps there. He's itching and ready to go, too. It's been a while for him, and a long road. He's done a real good job of conditioning and doing what he had to do to be in shape, with rehab and everything. The credit goes to him and the training staff of our hockey team."

Friday was the first time he's participated in contract drills during practice, since the surgery. He's been skating regularly with the team for the past couple weeks.

Between Saturday and March 8, St. Louis will play six games in San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles.
