ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas has been placed on the injured reserve with a fractured ankle, the Blues announced Wednesday a day following it's 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

The Blues says Thomas will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

Thomas initially was diagnosed with a lower-body injury after he blocked a shot from Jets defenseman Neil Pionk about 92 seconds into the third period.

Thomas assisted on both goals from teammate Brandon Saad Tuesday night in their tight 3-2 loss to the Jets, who are surprisingly the lone undefeated team left in the NHL, winning all six of their games they have played to start the NHL season.

Thomas, 25, has dressed in seven games for the Blues this season, posting six points (one goal, five assists) and two penalty minutes.

Thomas' injury is the latest injury trouble for the Blues already so early on into the season. Forward Alexandre Texier missed two weeks with a upper-body injury before returning to the lineup on Tuesday, while forward Alexei Torpchenko did not play Tuesday as he deals with a lower-body injury. Oskar Sundqvist, who started the season working his way back from knee surgery, was officially removed off the injured list Wednesday.

Thomas' loss is a big blow for the Blues top line. The Blues top line could now potentially see Pavel Buchnevich or Brayden Schenn becomes the Blues top line center in Thomas' absence.
