ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Blues has announced their 23-man roster that will begin the season Tuesday afternoon in Seattle against the Kraken.
Among the notable final cuts for the Blues is forward Zack Bolduc, who seems to be a cut due to salary cap concerns. According to Puckpedia, the Blues are just $467,792 under the NHL’s $88 million cap. Bolduc's cap hit of $864,000 would've put the Blues over the cap.
The roster will feature seven new faces to the team. Among them will include defenseman Philip Broberg, forward Dylan Holloway and longtime NHL veteran Ryan Suter.
The most notable part of the roster is that the Blues will carry eight defenseman, with five of them being left-handed.
To note, defenseman Torey Krug will miss the entire season due to surgery to address pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle, while forward Brandon Saad will potentially miss the first road trip of the season due to his wife being expected to give birth to their third child in the coming days.
Forward Oskar Sundqvist will also miss the start of the season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.
Defenseman Adam Jiricek who the Blues drafted in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft is still recovering from a knee injury he sustained in the 2024 World Junior Championship. Jiricek is expected to eventually return to Brantford Bulldogs in the Ontario Hockey League and play this season in the OHL.
