ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Blues 2021 first round draft pick could be set to make his NHL regular season debut Thursday against the New York Islanders.
On Tuesday, the Blues announced that the team has called up left winger Zachary Bolduc from the club's AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds.
Bolduc was the Blues top draft pick in 2021 out of QMJHL club Rimouski Océanic. After being selected by the Blues, Bolduc stayed in the QMJHL for two more years, where he was absolutely dominant, scoring 105 combined goals and amassing 209 points in his final two years of junior hockey with the Quebec Remparts.
Bolduc has spent the 2023-2024 season with the Blues AHL affiliate in Springfield, where he has gone through some growing pains so far, scoring only eight goals and amassing 23 points in the 48 games he has appeared for the Thunderbirds. However, Bolduc has started to heat up with the Thunderbirds, amassing six points in the team's last 10 games.
Bolduc was recently listed as the Blues' fourth best prospect in the team's pipeline according to The Athletic's Scott Wheeler. Wheeler sees Bolduc's potential as "second-line upside but there is some risk with his profile."
Along with the call up of Bolduc, the club also announced the team has placed defenseman Scott Perunovich of injured reserve (IR) while defenseman Justin Faulk was placed on long-term injured reserve(LTIR).
