St. Louis Blues forward Hugh McGing signs 2-year extension

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A day after the St. Louis Blues officially named Drew Bannister the permanent head coach and gave him a two-year deal, the Blues announced they have agreed to a two-year extension with forward Hugh McGing on a two-way contract.

A depth forward with the Blues, the former fifth-round draft pick has seen rather sporadic appearances for the Blues in the NHL level, playing in only six career NHL games.


McGing has mostly seen playing time in the Blues' AHL affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds. This past season, McGing logged a team-leading 31 assists and recording 39 points overall in 51 regular-season games, which marked his third consecutive season where has gotten more than 30 points in a season down in the AHL level.

Overall, McGing has played in 212 career AHL regular-season games, totaling 116 points (42 goals, 74 assists) and 150 penalty minutes.
