ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals have made their second round of roster cuts Thursday, optioning one player on the 40-man roster and reassigning nine players to minor league camp.
Following the Cardinals scoreless tie against the New York Mets, the club announced Thursday the team has optioned RHP Sem Robberse, while the team has reassigned right handed starters Tekoah Roby, Gordon Graceffo, and Michael McGreevy, catchers Aaron Antonelli and Jimmy Crooks, infielders Jeremy Rivas and Arquimedes Gamboa, right handed relief pitcher Ryan Loutos and left handed starter Connor Thomas.
The Spring Training roster for the Cardinals will reduce to 46 players, with 38 of them being a part of the 40-man roster, with six non-roster invitees still remaining in camp.
Among the six non-roster invitees left in camp include centerfielder Victor Scott II and infielder Thomas Saggese. Both prospects have impressed in Spring Training so far.
Scott II has shown his speed this Spring, racking up 13 total bases, including stealing four bases, while hitting a respectable .367/.457/.433 slash line in his 11 games of appearance.
Saggese meanwhile has shown his hitting this Spring, hitting a .324/.361/.471 slash line in 16 games, racking up 11 hits, nine RBIs to go with a home run.
While it would be unlikely Saggese joins the team in camp, Scott II has the possibility of making the roster with Cardinals center fielder Tommy Edman set to begin the season on the injured list while left fielder Lars Nootbaar Opening Day status is uncertain, but Nootbaar says he does feels optimistic about potentially being ready for Opening Day.
