KANSAS CITY (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty has been waiting 10 weeks to get back in an MLB game and there may not be a better matchup for him than facing the Kansas City Royals.

The 25-year-old will make his return Friday night from an oblique injury suffered while taking a swing against the Dodgers on May 31. He'll face the AL Central last place Royals. A team he's had nothing but success against.

A few stats on just how good he's been against the Royals:
• 3-0 record in three starts against them
• Allowed only 2 runs in 19 innings (two-run homer by Alcides Escobar in 2018)
• Hasn't allowed a run to Royals in his last 14 innings. It's the longest scoreless innings streak in Cardinals history vs. the Royals

But this game will be somewhat of uncharted territory for Flaherty, as he's coming off the longest stint on the Injured List in his young career.

First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. CT in Kansas City.
