ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals are set to wrap up their stay in Florida over the next four days and the club's 26-man roster is getting closer to forming.

Ahead of the Cardinals Spring Training game against the Houston Astros in West Palm Beach, Florida, the team made five cuts to their Major League Camp, reassigning relief pitcher Kyle Leahy and Wilking Rodriguez, catchers Nick Rapuso and Wade Strauss, and outfielder Matt Koeperniak to their Minor League Camp.

Among the notable cuts were Leahy, who saw Major League action with the club in July 2023, and Rodriguez, who was the Cardinals 2022 Rule 5 Draft Pick out of the New York Yankees system. Rodriguez did not pitch with the Cardinals last year due to injuries and while he would choose to go to free agency after the 2023 season ended, he would eventually rejoin the Cardinals organization days later.

The cuts will take the Cardinals Major League Camp down to 41 players, with all but three being a part of the club's 40-man roster. Among three non-roster invitees left at Major League Camp are infielder Thomas Saggese, and center fielder Victor Scott II.
