ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -A few longtime Cardinals fans remember the partnership between legendary broadcasters Harry Caray and Jack Buck in the broadcast booth, a 15-year partnership across two stints that began in 1954, but gained a legendary status in the 1960s, and ended after 1969 following Caray's firing.

Nearly 55 years later, the Buck-Caray partnership will be revived again, but this time with Joe Buck and Chip Caray as both will team up on Friday, May 24 to call the Cardinals matchup against hated rivals Chicago Cubs on Bally Sports Midwest.

Caray, who joined Amy Marxkors and Michael Kelley on The Chris and Amy Show Friday, says team up with Joe Buck has been almost 30 years in the making.

"I was supposed to be hired (in St. Louis) some 30 years ago and the thought then was to reunite Joe (Buck) and me behind the microphone in the late 90s, but it couldn't happen for a myriad of reasons," said Caray. "But somebody (recently) had the idea of 'Hey let's try this out and would you be up for it?' I said 'of course I would love too.'"

Caray says he has never worked with Joe Buck in a play-by-play or color analysis at all previously but they have worked together at FOX.

"When Joe was the voice of FOX's baseball coverage, I was on pregame and postgame so we were on the same crew together, but we never sat in the booth side-by-side," said Caray.

Caray says the team up with Buck will let them be able to have time to talk about Jack Buck, who Caray says influenced him to find a love with broadcasting baseball.

"Hopefully, (Joe) will be able to share those stories and we will have some fun together, create new memories and hopefully a Cardinals win against the Cubs," said Caray.
