ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals front office knows Cardinals fans are frustrated with the current product on the baseball field.

By now, everyone in St. Louis is pretty aware of the recent attendance issues the franchise has dealing with. Five of the last seven Cardinals games at Busch Stadium have seen fewer than 30,000 tickets sold, with some tickets costing $0 before fees.

The attendance issues were highlighted during the Cardinals' last home series against the San Diego Padres. While there were at least 25,000 tickets sold during all four games, the stadium looked very empty to the point San Diego Padres broadcasters Don Orsillo and Mark Grant immediately noticed it at the start of the series.

Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak was asked by KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman on "Sports On A Sunday Morning" about the recent attendance issues and he is aware of the frustrations of the fans.

"Obviously our fanbase is not happy with our current product," said Mozeliak. "They are displaying that I suppose by not showing up. You look at that vibe you saw in New York, where it's incredible, it's dynamic and that's something we gotten accustomed to in St. Louis."

"Obviously our performance, our record is indicative of why we are seeing a smaller crowd, but it's something from a business and strategy standpoint, we are going to have to understand what the future looks like from that standpoint."

Mozeliak hinted that with the recent attendance issues, along with the uncertain future of the regional sports networks(RSN), the Cardinals front office could face a uphill climb to improve the team in 2025.

"Obviously we know we are going to have a uphill climb with what the TV markets could look like moving forward, and so we are going to have our challenges," said Mozeliak. "I think our side is going to have to recalibrate a little bit and I'm still hopeful our fanbase will support us and appreciate what we are trying to do, but I can understand their level of frustration too."
