ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - With a raised hand, a roar and then fist pump, Nolan Arenado completed his first-ever curtain call to cap off the St. Louis Cardinals home opener. When talking about it after the game he did his best to describe the moment.

“It doesn’t feel very real right now,” Arenado said. “It will sink in. It’s unbelievable.”

The Cardinals newly acquired superstar third baseman didn't disappoint in his debut at Busch Stadium in a Cardinals uniform. His two-run HR in the 8th was the game-winning hit in the 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

"My at bats weren't too good until that last one," Arenado says, as he was 0-3 with a strikeout and had left two runners on base coming into that AB.

But then he jumped on the first pitch and sent it 373 feet into the left-field stands.

When he returned to the dugout he said the entire team was telling him to get back out there, because he didn't know what to do. Then he had his first-ever curtain call.

"I wasn't even ready for it ... I was just happy to hit a homer," Arenado says. "When I did, everyone was already standing. So just an unreal moment and I've never had that before. I'm very thankful for it and I thank the fans for being there for me."
