ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Tuesday night at Busch Stadium was Pham-tastic as some people might say.

Tommy Pham made his return as a St. Louis Cardinal Tuesday night, coming in as a pinch hitter for Matt Carpenter in a bases-loaded situation in bottom of the fifth inning against Texas Rangers pitcher Cody Bradford.

Pham kicked off his return to St. Louis in Pham-tastic fashion, swinging at a changeup to clear the bases and seal a 8-1 victory for the Cardinals.

Cardinals Manager Oli Marmol joined Total Information A.M. Wednesday to discuss Pham's return, saying a few players in the clubhouse pushed for the Cardinals to re-acquire Pham.

"I had several guys come into the office and by name say 'hey we want his personality in the clubhouse' for several reasons," said Marmol.

Marmol, who played with Pham in the minor leagues in the late-2000s, says Pham brings quite a few traits to the Cardinals clubhouse.

"This is a guy who really cares about winning, cares about the details of the game, and holds himself accountable to a very high standard and those around him to a high standard," said Marmol.

Marmol also discussed the Cardinals other trade deadline acquisitions of Erick Fedde and Shawn Armstrong and was positive of the moves that were made by John Mozeliak and the Cardinals front office.

"For (Mozeliak) to go out and address those needs and being able to get us a starter, a reliever and Tommy from the right side, it was really meaningful man," said Marmol.
