JUPITER, Fla. (KMOX) -- Baseball is back. And so is Yadier Molina.
The Cardinals' 10-time All-Star catcher reports to camp on Monday, manager Oli Marmol said before Friday's Grapefruit League opener at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Molina had informed the team prior to the start of spring training that he would have a delayed arrival for personal reasons.
Meanwhile, his longtime battery mate, Adam Wainwright, makes the start this afternoon against the Houston Astros. It's a game that will also feature the Cardinals' top pitching prospect, Matthew Liberatore.
Marmol, as promised, will have a regular lineup on the field to start the game against Astros righthander Justin Verlander:
Tommy Edman 2B
Paul Goldschmidt 1B
Tyler O'Neill LF
Nolan Arenado 3B
Dylan Carlson RF
Harrison Bader CF
Paul DeJong SS
Lars Nootbaar DH
Andrew Knizner C
Speaking of lineups: John Rooney, Ricky Horton and Mike Claiborne begin their season together in the radio booth following a 50-year run by retired Cardinals Hall of Famer Mike Shannon.
You can listen to every Cardinals spring training game on KMOX through April 5, when the team will pack its bags for St. Louis and head north for the home opener on April 7.
