ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Two players on the St. Louis Cardinals 2020 roster have been named Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners. Kolten Wong won at second base and Tyler O'Neill won in left field.
The Cardinals had three players on the 2020 roster named finalists: Wong, Paul Goldschmidt at first base and Tyler O'Neill in left field.
The winners were selected by a slightly different process this season, as it will be based solely on the SABR Defensive Index™ (SDI). In past years, MLB managers and up to six coaches on each team's staff also get to vote and the sabermetric component comprises of about 25% of the overall selection total.
Wong won his second career Gold Glove after winning his first last season. He led all National League second baseman in games played (53), assists (129) and double plays turned (29).

His Defensive Runs Above Average (DEF) was No. 1 among all NL second baseman at 4.5.
O'Neill has won his first Gold Glove and was No. 3 in all of baseball for Total Zone Runs, which is the number of runs above average the player was worth based on the number of plays made. O'Neill's 10 were behind only Mookie Betts' 11 in the NL.
Better check the wall for dents after Tyler O'Neill goes all-out for this catch. #STLCards
