Forward Samuel Adeniran, just recalled from a loan, scored twice Saturday night in San Jose as St. Louis City SC defeated the Earthquakes 2-1.

Adeniran struck in the 41st minute, then from the penalty spot in the 58th to break a 1-1 tie and give City the lead for good. The day before, Adeniran made a flight from Texas to join the team in San Jose. He'd been on loan with the USL's San Antonio FC. Adeniran was recalled due to injuries to top City SC players Klauss and Eduard Lowen.

Adeniran's two goals snapped a four-game winless streak for SC and provided the team's first road victory in more than two months.

"He came prepared, kept his head down and worked hard," said City SC head coach Bradley Carnell. "He's a menace."

With the win, City remains tied atop the Western Conference with 32 points. LAFC also has 32 points while the Seattle Sounders round out the top three with 29 points. City SC returns home for a July 1st match at CityPark versus Colorado.
