ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - MLS announced the winner of MLS Coach of the Year with St. Louis City SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell falling just short.
FC Cincinnati's Pat Noonan was named the league's Coach of the year Tuesday, with Carnell finishing as the runners-up.
MLS released the vote breakdown for each coach and Carnell actually secured the Media's vote, beating Noonan 39.88% to 37.57%.
However, Noonan would runaway from Carnell in the Club and Media vote with Miazga winning by over 36 percent in the Club vote, which consisted votes from managers and general managers of each club, and won by over 17 percent in the player's vote.
Despite failing to claim an award, it was still quite a successful season for Carnell.
The former New York Red Bull assistant became the head coach of St. Louis City SC on Jan. 5, 2022. Before their inaugural season, most MLS pundits and writers had St. Louis City SC finishing in the bottom of the Western Conference Table.
What would instead happen would be one of arguably, the greatest MLS expansion seasons ever, with St. Louis City SC claiming a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League next season, finishing at the top of the Western Conference.
While it was a tough end to St. Louis City SC, being swept by rival Sporting KC in the first round of the MLS Playoffs, Carnell and the club should still be happy with the season and how beyond expectations it was.
