ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis City SC Goalkeeper Roman Bürki had a terrific first season in the MLS, being arguably the team's MVP this season. His efforts earned him MLS Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year, the league announced Thursday.
The former Borussia Dortmund first-team goalkeeper and City SC captain made a successful transition to the MLS, stopping 123 shots, and racking up eight clean sheets, which was highs for him since 2019/2020.
Bürki terrific season was also recognized during the summer, as he was voted the starting goalkeeper for the MLS All-Stars exhibition match against Arsenal.
Bürki was one four City SC personnel to be under consideration for an year-end award this season. His teammates Eduard Löwen and Tim Parker, along with City SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell was also named finalists for year-end awards .
