St. Louis City SC HC Bradley Carnell on last 2 losses: 'It's a tough stretch against 2 really good teams'

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Last week was a really rough week for St. Louis City SC.

City SC entered a week taking on really tough competition, hosting Hugo Lloris and LAFC at CITYPARK Wednesday and then traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on one of the best clubs in the MLS in FC Cincinnati.

City SC would fail to capture any points in both matches, with City SC being shut by LAFC 2-0 at CITYPARK, while they lost to FC Cincinnati 3-1 with the only goal scored by City SC coming from a embarrassing back pass by Cincinnati defender Matt Miazga in the 54th minute.

The back-to-back losses extends City SC tough stretch to begin 2024, with City SC only being able to rack up three wins in their first 13 games of the season.

City SC Head Coach Bradley Carnell joined Total Information A.M. Monday to discuss the losses, saying they now have to move on from a tough week for the club.

"We will have up and downs, but the only way to move on from the downs is we try to go off from the experiences we have before," said Carnell. "LAFC and Cincinnati, it's a tough stretch against two really tough opponents, so we put that bed, focused on the road forward and we got to focus on the guys coming back into competitive roster spots and we will take it from there."

Despite the tight schedule, the constant lineup changes and the results, Carnell said he thought a few players had good performances between the two matches.

"Some of the guys made a really good case for themselves," said Carnell. "I'm thinking about an Akil Watts, a Hosei Kijima. Shame about the yellow cards early in the game (for Kijima against FC Cincinnati), because he was set for a really good Saturday (evening) and we had to protect him from the red card, which would've been detrimental."
